It’s already looking like a bad week for Microsoft. First, Digg ditches their exclusive ad deal with the Redmond giant. Now, Oracle Corporation buys Sun Microsystems for $7.4 billion. Oracle makes enterprise applications and database software that compete with Microsoft’s offerings.

Sun created Java, a Windows-independent platform that’s scared the Hell out of Bill Gates for over a decade. Your phone is probably full of Java apps, as Java Platform Micro Edition is one of the things that’s kept Windows Mobile from dominating the cellphone market.

Sun also maintains MySQL, the open-source database software that enables dynamic Web sites of all sizes, from Facebook to this blog. Since MySQL is free, it’s been kicking the snot out of Microsoft SQL Server all over the Web.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, a man lost for words, was caught off-guard by the Oracle-Sun tag team. “I just learnt it,” said Ballmer yesterday. “I need to think about it. I am very surprised.” Steve-O has a habit of throwing chairs when he’s frustrated; wonder how much furniture he’s wrecked in the last forty-eight hours.

Flamboyant Oracle CEO Larry Ellison has long held a grudge against Microsoft. As industry experts note, Oracle is probably smart enough to keep MySQL free as a community offering, even though it partially competes with Oracle’s enterprise database offerings. With Oracle’s acquisition of Java and MySQL through Sun, Ellison just bought two very big sticks with which to pound Ballmer.

I will use my special knowledge and skills for the benefit of the public. I will serve employers and clients with integrity, subject to an overriding responsibility to the public interest. And I will strive to enhance the competence and prestige profession. By these I mean:

1. I will promote public, knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of information technology;

2. I will consider the general welfare and public good in performance of my work;

3. I will advertise goods and professional services in a clear and truthful manner;

4. I will comply and strictly abide by the intellectual property laws, patent laws and other related laws in respect of information technology;

OUr exam in IT Pro was not that hard but i find it tough! The time was just enough but my problem was that I repeated again and again. I was not satisfied with the looks of my previous table so I always change them. hehe

I just hope my score is passing! whew!

Labor of Love...again!

And for countless times that I have thought about it, I'm here right now at CL2, giving a Labor of Love!

Yup! Labor of Love...I was supposed to be at home, typing on my keyboard with bad ergonomics, chatting while eating dinner. Yes! I should be sitting pretty right at this very moment..

Unluckily, I've got 37.34 units of subject load as of 9/9/2008. It should have been 31 if Sir Jerkz is still here. He went away for some good reason, of course I understand. He's enjoying his greener pasture right now. Good luck!

I just hope this would be a not so Labor of Love. I hope overloads will be paid! huhuhu

I've been absent for two meetings.. I was so busy with sooo many things!
Now that I'm back, I'm catching up!

Files in Chapter 8 for IT Pro has always been in my flash drive but I did not know what to do with it.. Good thing our instructor repeated the lessons they had last time..Good thing I was able to go with the flow..

I wonder what they did in other subjects during my absent days!...I hope it's not that hard..I'll try to cope up with the lessons..

Am I an IT Professional?

I believe so...

I am a full time educator. I belong to the education profession.
I teach things about IT and stuffs.
I finished my Bachelor's in IT, although I earned a few units in Education and passed the Professional Teacher's board.

I can say, I am an IT professional.
Not all educators can teach IT, that's for sure.
All IT instructors finished IT courses, more so Master's in IT.
If there are no "us", there won't be IT professionals, so to speak.
If teaching IT cannot be considered as an IT profession, well then, all IT teachers must be practicing IT to belong!

I myself practice my being an IT professional, in a way or another.
I believe everybody else, IT instructors, do!
I do simple IT consultancy in a family friend's business, part time.
I made some simple business application programs for them.
I even accept technical, simple hardware troubleshooting jobs.

Can I be considered as an IT professional?
I believe so... If it's what it means...

A Headache Day

I'm having a headache, a bad day!

Last night, a close friend came home from abroad.
I fetched her, ate dinner together and went home in our place.
She will be sleeping over in her bro's boarding house, not in our house.
So, we talked and shared "chikas" about old friends and classmates.
For years that we did not see each other, we nearly didn't notice the time.
It was 2 o'clock in the morning! I have to get up early for my class.
I have to accompany her to her brother's house but before we left, she gave me lots of pasalubong and chocolates.
An old friend doesn't really forget a friend's favorites!
I came back home at around 2.30AM, I slept right away.

Good thing I was not late for class. In fact, I'm alone right now here in the Lab.
A headache day for an old friend, not bad at all!

ohw! I skipped answering a module last night.

My First Entry on Our First Day

Today is the first day of Master's school.
Today is also our first meeting in our first subject for the day, IT Pro.
I thought our instructor was Mr. Exander Barrios, as it was listed.
It turned out to be Mr. John Ruero.
I have 51 classmates, some old friends and lots of new ones.

I thought I'll feel lonely. I realized I've got friends.
Anyways, good luck to me!
